About Pacific Coast Skydiving
# Pacific Coast Skydiving
Pacific Coast Skydiving operates from Brown Field in San Diego, California, as a year-round tandem drop zone known for scenic ocean jumps and RVT video technology. Located just 15 minutes south of downtown San Diego near the coast, the dropzone is positioned 2 miles from the nearest hotel and offers jumps with views over the Pacific Ocean before landing near the beach—a distinctive feature that sets it apart from inland drop zones.
The operation runs seven days a week and has been in business since 2004, when owner Andy Rowell and his friend Luther created the dropzone with a mission to change lives one skydive at a time. Rowell, who has been jumping since 1989, brings over 25,000 jumps of experience to the operation and infuses every customer experience with the comedic energy he once pursued as a stand-up comedian. This personal touch and longevity distinguish Pacific Coast Skydiving as an established, locally-rooted operation rather than a transient franchise.
The dropzone specializes in tandem skydiving for first-time jumpers, with RVT video technology and scenic flights over the ocean as core offerings. They also provide tandem training programs. The facility emphasizes safety through USPA-certified instructors who are trained to transform each skydiving adventure into a memorable story. The team is described as "amazing instructors" committed to delivering both thrilling and safe experiences.
Pacific Coast Skydiving operates a Cessna 206 aircraft and is open from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM Pacific Time, seven days a week, accommodating the schedules of both local thrill-seekers and visitors to the San Diego area. The combination of ocean views, reliable year-round weather in Southern California, proximity to downtown San Diego, and personalized instruction from an owner who genuinely loves the sport makes Pacific Coast Skydiving an accessible entry point for tandem skydiving on the California coast.
