History
Annual exotic boogie run by Skydive Egypt.

Spread The Wings is one of the most extraordinary skydiving experiences on earth: jumping from a C-130 Hercules military transport, ramp-exit style, over the Pyramids of Giza. Run by Skydive Egypt, the 2026 edition spans November 28 to December 7, built around a main Pyramids' Boogie (Nov 28–Dec 3) with optional extended trips to Luxor and the Red Sea.

The main event puts licensed jumpers over the Giza plateau from up to 15,000 ft — three jumps a day across the main days — alongside pyramid visits, LZ orientation and a full pre-jump briefing. The roster of load organizers and camera flyers reads like a who's-who of the sport: Kate Cooper-Jensen, Carsten Cooper-Jensen, Larry Henderson, Louis French, Doug Forth and Angelo Declerck on the belly/big-way side; Alethia Austin and Jesse 'Tex' Leos on freefly/angle; wingsuit world champion Jenna Gygi; and legendary camera flyers including Norman Kent and Gustavo Cabana.

Optional extensions take the adventure further: helicopter (MI-17) jumps over the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Nile in Luxor, and beach jumps on the Red Sea at Marsa Alam. Special add-ons include sunset MI-17 jumps over the Red & Bent Pyramids and the Djoser Pyramid, plus night jumps over Giza. Packages bundle 5-star hotel, meals and transport. This is an experienced-jumper event: a B-license (USPA or equivalent), 100+ logged jumps, your own rig with current reserve and AAD, and full insurance are required (200+ jumps to fly a camera). Tandem jumps are available for newcomers.

What is a skydiving boogie?

A boogie is a multi-day skydiving event hosted by a dropzone — typically a mix of organized loads, big-way attempts, freefly camps, canopy courses, novelty aircraft (helicopters, hot-air balloons, high-altitude jumps), and a serious after-hours party scene. Boogies pull jumpers from across the country to one DZ for a long weekend of jumping you can't get on a normal Saturday.

A camp is narrower in focus — a coached event aimed at a specific skill (4-way formation, head-down freefly, big-way, canopy piloting). A competition is exactly what it sounds like: USPA-sanctioned or open competition where teams or individuals compete in specific disciplines.

If you're newer to the sport, boogies are the most fun way to see what the jumping community is really like — and where you'll see what camps and disciplines you might want to chase next.
